Our work experience programme supports young people to find out about our organisation and the services we deliver. It gives an insight into careers within the Third Sector and the impact our work has within our communities.
At the beginning of June we welcomed three students from Whitehaven Academy and Workington Academy. Lucy, Jorja and Logan worked on our Life Skills project, preparing a presentation that they could take back to school to help inform young people on debt and where to go for help.
Our Life Skills sessions are the perfect starter guide to talking and finding out about money. We want to remove the barriers and stigma around asking for help and provide support to students to start budgeting, understand money and plan for the future after school without feeling overwhelmed. Lucy, Jorja and Logan did a fantastic job in preparing a debt awareness campaign that we wanted to share with everyone!
Their Debt Awareness Campaign
The students worked together to create a campaign to encourage younger people to stay out of debt and manage their finances.
The campaign aims are to:
- Raise awareness of the impacts of debt
- Encourage people to speak out and seek help for any debt problems
- Prevent people from getting themselves into debt
- Clear up misconceptions about debt
To achieve these aims, they want to focus on educating young people about debt and good money management, in order to prevent them from needing debt advice in the future.
